Why We Hydro Jet Pipes Before Pipe Lining
Home /
Hydro jetting is a method of cleaning and maintaining pipe systems using high-pressure water. SD Lining Solutions specializes in trenchless pipe lining in Sioux Falls, SD. While not exactly used to repair damaged pipes, hydro jetting is one of the most crucial steps in our trenchless pipe lining process. Hydro jetting prior to pipe lining is essential for several reasons:
Clear Obstructions
Over time, debris like tree roots and other substances such as grease can accumulate within the pipes. These blockages can make it difficult for our team to insert the liner material. Hydro jetting effectively removes any obstacles from the pipe, ensuring easy adhesion of the lining.
Proper Measurement
Not only does hydro jetting prime the interior of the affected pipe for the pipe lining coating, it also makes it easier for pipe lining companies to get the correct measurement of how much material we would need to properly line the pipes. A clean pipe would allow us to get accurate measurements, and we need to do so because there is a liner-to-resin mixture ratio that we need to account for.
Monitors Pipe Condition
This step is critical in identifying significant damage that must be addressed before the lining process.
The Process
Work on the pipe can begin once the pipeline has been thoroughly cleaned. The sewer pipe lining process itself involves inserting a resin-coated liner in the damaged pipe. The liner is then pressed against the tube walls using an inflatable tube. Once the resin hardens, it forms a new pipe in the old one, effectively repairing any damage and improving its performance.
